Tips for the First Day of Preschool

Tips for the First Day of Preschool

Starting preschool for the first time should be an exciting and fun time for both parents and child. There may be feelings of anxiousness and sadness from both you and your child before the big day, but these feelings are normal and will pass. Remember that a being positive is really the best option for both you and your child. Remind them that they will have to get a new cool school bag, lunch box and all sorts of other goodies before their first day.

One of the best things you can do for your child is to prepare them properly for their first day of preschool. Most schools have an orientation day, where parents and children will have an opportunity to go and see the classes and playground and meet the teacher. Speak to your children about what they are going to do at preschool and encourage them to talk about their feelings with you. If your child feels worried about going to school, go and visit the school one afternoon and let them play on the playground for a little while to familiarise them with the environment.

Involve your child when you go to your back to school stationery supplier to get all the goodies for their first day at preschool. This will also help to alleviate any stress they may be feeling and may even make them more excited about going to school. Most preschools will give out a list of back to school supplies that you need to bring with your child on the first day of school. These stationery items are mostly crayons, paints, aprons for painting and the like, but you may also have to supply items such as wet wipes, tissues and so forth.

If you let your child pick out their own kids backpack at your local schoolbag and stationery supplier, or a brand new outfit from your local clothing store, they will also feel far more special on their first day at preschool. Let them help you pack their cool school bag the night before with an extra change of clothing.

There may be a few tears on the first day of preschool, but remember as soon as your child gets into the new routine, they will love playing with their friends and learning new things! The teachers are also very well equipped with years of experience on how to make your child feel secure and relaxed. Before you know it - they will be having the time of their life and will just love telling you about all their adventures.
