Fitting Your Bag

Adjusting your orthopaedic school bag

Totem Fitting Growth Buckle

  1. Children aged between 6 and 7 need the buckle to be in the full release position.
  2. Check that the small webbing strap next to the growth buckle is taut.
  3. Tighten or loosen the top growth buckle at the lower end of the shoulder straps.

*Always encourage your child to use both shoulder straps to get the full benefit from Totem’s orthopaedic design. This will help distribute the weight more evenly across both shoulders.

Totem Fitting Bag

  1. Place the bag close on your child’s back.
  2. Position the lower back padding against the curve of your child’s lower back.
  3. Holding the bag in this position, adjust the shoulder straps until comfortable.
  4. Tighten the slack on the buckle feature until small webbing is taut.

*Using only one shoulder strap over the long term will cause uneven loading on the spine that can result in one dropped shoulder or a curvature of the spine. It also defeats the purpose of using a bag with an orthopaedic design.
